People join Mturk with a hope to earn some money working on HITs (Human Intelligence Tasks) but the irony is people could hardly get that earned amount transferred to their bank accounts.
Firstly, signing up for Mturk doesn’t mean you’ll be getting access to work on HITs and earn money out of it. No! It doesn’t happen that way. After signing up for Mturk with proper details it may take years to get final approval so that one can work on Mturk.
I signed up for Mturk around February, 2014 and was finally approved to work around August, 2015. It took more than a year time for approval.
Secondly, even if it gets approved you won’t be able to transfer the hard earn money to your bank account. The only option available at that point of time is to transfer the amount to Amazon.com gift card which Indian users have clearly objected as the cost of shipping is almost same to the price of product purchased through Amazon.com.
I tried enquirying through feedback system about the time taken to get access to the option of transfer the earned money to bank account. What I found through a series to e-mail is that they never tell the time, they’ll just say “we will notify you once it’s available for you”. There aren’t any criteria for approval and also there isn’t any time limitations within which the option to transfer to your bank account gets activated.
It’s 2019, and I am yet to receive the activation for transferring the hard earned amount to my bank account. Working on Mturk isn’t that worthy. Rather, it consumes alot of time and asks you to spend all the earned money to purchase products from Amazon.com only.
