The only way you can deactivate instagram is by login into instagram through browser. The instagram app doesn’t show this feature and if you are looking for options to deactivate your account through app you won’t be able to find it.

Here is how you are going to deactivate your instagram account.

• Open browser (Chrome, Safari etc)
• Go to instagram[dot]com
• Login with the account you want to deactivate
• Go to edit profile
• Scroll down and select temporarily deactivate my account
• Click “Submit”

By doing this you won’t be able to receive any modifications and your friends and followers won’t be able to find you in instagram.

Remember you can only deactivate your account by login it through a browser and not by app and if you login after deactivating it then it will take minimum 7 days to process the request for deactivation and your account stays activated till that period of time.
